Exerpeutic 900XL Recumbent Bike Review

Last updated June 2, 2021 By Kate Leave a Comment

Exerpeutic 900XL Recumbent Exercise Bike ReviewI am not the most active person, but middle age has made me realize the importance of working out so I can enjoy a longer and healthier life with my family.

Thankfully, I came across the Exerpeutic 900XL. It allows me to have a decent workout while staying at home. Because it is very easy and comfortable to use, I don’t drag myself to exercise like used to do.

If I feel like it, I can also customize the settings for a more challenging workout.

Best of all, it comes at a very affordable price!

Features

Step Thru Design

The Step Thru Design is Exerpeutic’s trademark characteristic.

It allows you to effortlessly get on and off the bike, something that can easily be taken for granted. This feature is particularly helpful for elderly users or those who are coming off an injury.

Performance Tracking And Display

exerpeutic 900xl easy to read lcdFrankly, I am not the serious, fitness buff type, but I do want to make sure that I am not wasting time and effort.

You can monitor your performance on the Exerpeutic 900XL through its large LCD display.

The console indicates distance, calories burned, time and speed.

Heart rate is measured through the sensors located on the handles and also indicated on the LCD screen.

8 Level Magnetic Tension Control System

I can always vary the speed of my pedaling motion, but the Exerpeutic 900XL allows me to further challenge myself.

With its 8 level magnetic tension options, I can customize the resistance for an easier or more difficult routine.

The adjustment is done using the knob conveniently located in the front of the seat.

Others

  • It has a wide, cushioned seat and back rest. However, the seat is a bit far from the back rest and this can be uncomfortable for some users.
  • You will feel secure not only because of the solid frame with extended leg stabilizers but also because of the large pedals with straps.

Design And Specifications

The Exerpeutic 900XL measures 54 x 22 x 34 inches (L x W x H).

The bike weighs 63 lbs. and can accommodate users of up to 300 lbs.

Its height adjustment range is more extensive than that of the Exerpeutic 400XL. It can accommodate anyone who stands 5’3″ to 6’6″.

However, the seat adjustment is a bit inconvenient. Three knobs have to be turned before you can adjust the seat manually. It is disadvantageous especially when several users of different heights are sharing the bike.

The Exerpeutic 900XL is covered by a 3 year warranty.

F.A.Q.

Is it easy to set-up?

Yes. You can completely assemble it in more or less an hour.

I live in an apartment. Will the bike cause annoying sounds that my neighbors may complain about?

Absolutely not. The bike runs very smoothly and the sound, if any, is almost nil.

Can the handles be adjusted?

Although the handles cannot be adjusted, there is ample room for you to comfortably step on the bike. If you wish, you can easily remove them by unscrewing two bolt and nut sets.

What is the user weight capacity?

The maximum user capacity is 300 lbs.

Can you pedal on both directions?

Yes. Resistance remains and the console records your data regardless if you are pedaling forward or backwards.

Do you need a mat under it?

There is no need for a mat. The bike has rubber ends and stays stable either on bare or carpeted floor.

Other Options

Another affordable recumbent bike from the same manufacturer is the Exerpeutic 1000.

Both have 8 levels of magnetic tension control, Step Thru design, 300 lbs. user weight capacity and a heart rate monitor. However, the Exerpeutic 1000 has transport wheels for easy relocation and an ever larger seat.

If you want more options, check out this post where we listed down the top recumbent exercise bikes on the market today.

Exerpeutic 900XL Recumbent Bike: Conclusion

I didn’t think that aย recumbent bike this affordable can be as good as it is – well-built and efficient.

Among its valuable features, I like the smooth magnetic tension control, Step Thru design, and heart rate monitor the most because I consider them really beneficial.

Indeed, the Exerpeutic 900XL has really helped me lead a more active and healthier lifestyle.
