Some inexpensive treadmills may be uncomfortable to walk or run on, but this still relatively affordable treadmill has the patented cushioning technology to add support to the deck.
It helps reduce impact with every step to prevent injury. I like that it adds considerable amount of comfort and running on it is a pleasure.
18 Program Workouts
It has built-in workout programs to help me reach specific fitness goals.
It doesn’t matter whether I’m looking for a cardio workout, muscle building, weight loss, tightening, toning, or something else because I can just select a workout from the programs and be sure that I’m reaching my goals.
In addition, it adds variety and we all know that I wouldn’t be able to do that by myself.
Dual-Grip PowerPulse Heart Rate Monitor
I have no heart issues and I’m not a professional athlete, but I understand the importance of monitoring my heart rate while working out.
It helps me target my progress while making sure that I stay in the fat burning zone and at safe levels.
The Gold’s Gym Trainer 720 Treadmill has a heart rate monitor through the sensors built into the handle bars, which works surprisingly well.
QuickSelect Incline And Speed Controls
Aside from the programmed workouts, the intensity can also be easily adjusted through the QuickSelect controls.
I can go as fast as 10mph and I can also increase the incline by up to 10% without having to get off the machine to manually do the adjustments.
It’s perfect for people who do not want to interrupt their rhythm while working out.
SpaceSaver technology which allows it to fold-up vertically for easy storage
CoolAire workout fan and 2 large cup holders for convenience
Built-in speakers and an iPod compatible music port for entertainment
LED display that enables tracking of speed, time, distance and calories burned. However, it is good to note that the screen is not back-lit. In addition, time and distance can be viewed alternately and never at the same time.
Design And Specifications
The Gold’s Gym Trainer 720 runs on a 2.5 HP G-Force motor which is enough to provide a smooth and powerful workout. Its spacious running area is another attractive feature of this treadmill.
Its treadbelt measures 20″ x 55″ so it enables me to comfortably workout without having to be conscious of every step. It has a sturdy frame which can accommodate users of up to 300 lbs.
Aside from adjusting the incline, I can also intensify my workout by increasing the speed. The maximum speed is 10 mph.
The extended warranty coverage gives me confidence about the quality of the product. The Gold’s Gym Trainer 720 has a lifetime warranty for the frame, 25 years for the motor, and 1 year for parts and labor.
Is it easy to assemble?
The assembly instructions could be written better. It is not complicated, but is quite heavy so that might make assembly a bit more difficult.
It will take 1-2 hours for 2 people to completely set it up.
Can it be easily folded and moved around?
Yes. However, despite having wheels, it can still be difficult to carry that weight around.
Also, be extra careful in folding and unfolding the deck because it does not have a soft drop mechanism and might damage the floor.
Does it run quietly?
There are some squeaking sounds while in use but it is absolutely not annoying or bothersome.
How fast can I run on it?
The speed ranges from 0-10 mph, at .10 mph increments. It’s also possible to increase by 1 mph right away.
What is the maximum weight capacity?
Users weighing up to 300 lbs. can use it comfortably due to its sturdy frame, spacious running area, and cushioning technology.
Does it have space for holding cups or accessories? What other convenience features does it have?
It has 2 large cup holders. It also has a fan but it is not that strong so it’s not very helpful.
Alternatives To The 720 Treadmill
If you are willing to shell out around $1,000 for a treadmill, I recommend getting the NordicTrack C 990 Treadmill. It is also a folding treadmill but it has a stronger motor, longer tread belt, and more pre-set workouts.
The Gold’s Gym Trainer 720 provides a decent, light to moderate home workout. It has 18 programs to address different workout objectives.
Its spacious deck and cushioning technology provide a smooth and comfortable experience. It also has automatic speed and incline adjustments. But these can also be delivered by more affordable treadmills. Some features like the speakers and fan may be good to have but it might not be worth paying an extra hundred bucks for that.
